Coach Horton
As Leo Catholic High School’s Guidance Counselor and Chess Coach, Otto Horton plays the lead role in assisting students with college and career plans. Coach Horton took over as counselor in 2016, and Leo has achieved a 100 percent graduation rate along with 100 percent college placement during his tenure.
Horton motivates students with a positive, upbeat and engaging personality that he attributes to his five levels of improvisational training at Second City Chicago. He holds a degree in Communications from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and a Secondary English Language Arts Certification from Chicago State University. He has more than 15 years of experience in secondary education as an instructor, program director, coach and activities coordinator.
Adept at analyzing student performance, Coach Horton in a great addition to our team as a Virtual Chess Coach, as believes there is a place of higher learning for every student based on needs and dreams.
